Kids Sky Exploration Project was launched by the National
Commission for UNESCO of Republic of Tanzania in the year of 2010 after the
proclamation of the International Year of Astronomy by the UNESCO Headquarter
in Paris. The Kids Sky Project aimed at increasing curiosity and critical minds
among children and young people about our universe. This project was carried
out in different Regions in Tanzania mainland as well as Tanzania Island in
Zanzibar. The project involved different schools from primary to secondary
level.
However the Kids Exploration Project went hand by hand
with the donation of Telescopes to the schools and Colleges in order to raise
awareness about the universe through the exploration of the sky by using the Telescope.
The National Commission for UNESCO of Republic of Tanzania donated several
Telescopes to schools and colleges as well as to other Educational Institutions
in many parts of Tanzania in order to manage the project of Sky Exploration.
