Youth activities coordinated by
National Commission for UNESCO have been categorized under the Youth Desk
section. UNESCO Youth Desk is a youth led affiliate body of Tanzania National
Commission for UNESCO – founded under the auspices of the 1st UNESCO
African Youth Forum and V th UNESCO Youth Forum resolution held in Burkina Faso
on 24th – 28th September 2007 and in Paris (France) on 12th
-13th October 2007 respectively. The Youth Desk in Tanzania was
officially launched on 16th December 2009 at Karimjee Hall in Dar es
Salaam. The Desk aspires to ensure
active participation of young people in UNESCO activities; to create platform for Tanzanian youth to interact with other
youth around the globe in UNESCO related activities; And To foster partnership
with different UNESCO National Commissions on youth activities.
UNESCO
youth desk envisions to have the majority of Tanzanian young people involved in UNESCO activities and empower for sustainable development.
The desk’s mission is to explore opportunities, which enhance youth
involvement in UNESCO activities and capacity building for young people’s
engagement in social economic development.
The
Tanzania National Commission for UNESCO Youth Desk normal organize the
Bi-monthly Youth Forums which mobilize different Youth from different parts of
Tanzania to discuss about different issues that matter for the youth
sustainability.
Recently
the National Commission for UNESCO of republic of Tanzania under Youth Desk in
collaboration with the WFP Organized a two Days workshop on Learning for
Sustainability.
